In their final game of the season Hedon Rangers were very unfortunate to not get anything from this game but their downfall was again down to poor finishing. This has been the best season so far for Hedon in the Humber Premier League finishing 6th in the league, but if some of the remaining results go their way they may finish higher. Hedon Rangers were without influential midfielder Chris Walker after suffering a bad ankle injury against Sculcoates in the midweek game. Manager Kenny Harrison gave two more 17yr old youngsters their chance to play in the 1st team. North Ferriby was also a team full of youngsters whose average age was only 18yrs old.
A very fit Ferriby team started the brighter and Hedon Rangers keeper Dez Peat was brought into action within 2mins after Gareth Owen outpaced Nathen Robinson to give Danny Moon a chance but his shot was straight at the Dez. Following a bad tackle on Chris Spinks for Rangers in the 15th min he brought out a superb save from Ferriby keeper Rob Moy. Hedon Rangers were taking control of the game and following a superb ball from Billy Hurst he fed in Chris Spinks but yet again he was denied a goal with a superb save from Rob Moy. On 27th mins Rangers should have taken the lead after Glen Adams had done the hard work in beating two defenders and rounding the keeper he just had to place the ball into the open goal but his shot hit the side netting. Hedon Rangers were guilty again of some poor finishing after Ben Swatman outpaced the Ferriby defence and but for a superb save from Rob Moy Rangers would have taken the lead. From the resulting corner Andy Harrison was unlucky to see his header saved on the line to give Rangers another corner which Chris Arksey headed just over. Had these chances been taken in the first half then Rangers would have had too much of a lead for Ferriby to come back into the game.
Ferriby took full advantage of the poor finishing from Rangers and they were now creating some good scoring chances.
Within the 1st min of the second half Danny Moon effort was well saved by Dez Peat. A poor clear out from Dez gave Ben Basset for Ferriby a chance but Dez recovered well to save his shot. On 52mins Ben Swatman again outpaced the Ferriby defence and with just Rob Moy to beat his shot was well wide of the goal. A long defensive strike from Sam Belcher caught out the Rangers defence and Danny Moon raced through the Rangers defence to give Dez no chance with a low strike in the corner of the net to give Ferriby the lead in the 55th min. Rangers were soon level after a foul on Chris Spinks his brilliant free kick gave keeper Rob Moy no chance. A superb tackle from Ferriby defender Ryan Levesley denied Glen Adams a chance after been fed through from Andy Harrison. Rangers defence were find it difficult to cope with the pace of Gareth Owen and in the 70th min Ferriby were unlucky not to take the lead as he used his pace to feed in Jack Lewis but his shot hit the bar to keep the score level. Another long through ball gave Gareth Owen the winning goal with a superb strike that gave Dez Peat no chance in the 80th min. Ranger’s last chance of the game fell to Chris Spinks after Mike Carling was fouled close to the Ferriby penalty area. From the resulting free kick Rob Moy brought off another great save to deny Chris Spinks. With this been the last league game for Hedon Rangers they must now wait and see if other results go their way to finish a creditable 6th which would be the best season so far in the Humber Premier League.
